It's a sunny spring day in the Lakes

Looking out of the window this morning, the sky is blue, the sun is coming up and the birds are singing. All thoughts of sitting at the desk catching up on paperwork have gone. It's a day to get outside.

We're promised several days of glorious sun. Usually we'd be getting ready to open White Moss House for our bed and breakfast guests, but we're having a break this year. We are still letting our wonderful Lakes holiday cottage, Brockstone, and it is available for short breaks in March and early April. We might spend today in the garden up at Brockstone cottage.

It's such a sunny spot it's an absolute joy to "work" up there. It's just a few hundred yards from White Moss House by footpath ( though it's over a mile by road). It's also a few hundred yards by road (well, track) from the next nearest cottage, but it feels quite remote when you are there as you can't see any other buildings and only walkers and their dogs go past. I'll take my camera, but meanwhile, here's a photo of Brockstone in the autumn. It could be you opening that gate to a wonderful Lake District break in the next few weeks!

These rates are for the whole stay, for two guests , and they include breakfast.

We usually request a two night minimum stay at the weekend. One night stays may be available at the last minute.

Two days left to book our Lake District Cottage at 10% discount.

If you've walked from Grasmere to Rydal along the "Coffin Road" you'll have passed by our Lakeland cottage, Brockstone ( named over 200 years ago after the badgers who live around there).

We still have some weeks available to let in the cottage in 2013, and if you make a reservation today or tomorrow ( before the end of July) for a 2013 week, we are offering a 10% discout on our advertised rates. Click through here for more about our holiday cottage and links to rates.

The first available week is Saturday 24 August. We have already reduced that from £850 to £790, but if you book now there would be an extra 10% off, bringing the rate to £711.

We also have weeks available in September and October, a wonderful time to visit the Lakes. Any weeks in 2013 that are not marked as booked on the calender are avialble for this offer.

For those of you who want to book in 2014, we are already taking bookings. Don't leave it long before you get your dates booked.

What's the weather like? Well, we can't deny that it's very cold for this time of year, but on the plus side, it's great for walking, it's DRY and BRIGHT, and the views are AMAZING!  There are no leaves on the trees to block the views, and the hills all have snow on them, so for those of you who like to take photos, this is the time to visit.

Rarer than hen's teeth- 1 night on a Saturday! Usually in the Lake District we expect to let a 2 night minimum stay at the weekends, but our special 3 night offer has been so successful that we've filled rooms during the week, and guests are leaving on Saturday morning, so we're happy to offer 1 night stays this weekend.

We've got room 1 ( now with new improved private terrace) for £118, and we also have rooms 2 or 4 for £98. This is for two guests, for 1 night, including tea and home made cakes with our compliments on arrival, our award winning breakfast, free parking, White Moss Walks, free fishing (bring your own rods) etc etc.......

May Bank Holiday Weekend

At White Moss House we're fully booked for the Friday and Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend, 4 and 5 May. We do have rooms for the Sunday and Monday.
