Snow on the Lake District hills today

With a change in the weather today, the temperature has dipped, and snow fell overnight. We had a light coating of white in the garden, but up on Fairfield and Helvellyn the snow is thick.

We are having sunshine and showers, and in the sunshine the hills look beautiful.

If you would like to stay at our Lake District cottage, Brockstone Cottage,, the earliest date we have is a 3 night stay from 4 April for £350.
Easter is also still available, with arrival day either Thursday, Friday or Saturday, 17th, 18th or 19th April.

Easter in the Lakes

It's not too late to book your Easter stay in the Lake District.
We still have rooms for the Easter weekend, and the following week.

We have just updated our rates, and included special offers for stays of 3 or more nights. Check here for our newly updated and reduced rates. If you would like to book, please use this online booking page, or you could email me with the dates you want, the price that is quoted on the booking system, and I might be able to knock a couple of extra pounds off.........

At present we have snow everywhere, but it's very sunny. It looks gorgeous. By next weekend the snow at lower levels will have probably gone, but the mountains will still be white- fabulous for taking photos. The daffodils are out too.

I'm making my Lakeland tea bread now for afternoon teas this week. Tea and homemade cakes on arrival with our compliments!

Book now for our Grasmere special offers this Easter Time.

Here's one visitor who made it through the snow

It's been snowing all day- some guests have been unable to get to Grasmere and the Lake District.
However, we have one visitor who has arrived- but we're not that delighted.

Deer in White Moss House herb garden.
I've just taken this photo- his/her friend's back legs can be seen running off as they heard me. Deer may look pretty,( well , OK, they really do look cute)  but they can eat any green shoots in seconds.

News about availablity. Our cottage is now fully booked until the middle of April- all the last minute gaps were filled.

We do have rooms for Easter in White Moss House still available. You can email sue@whitemoss.com, or ring me on 015394 35295 . 2 night minimum stay.

We're back in the swing again...and we have special offers

We've welcomed our first guests of 2013 to White Moss House. They are a charming couple from Germany. The gentleman has been before, with his grandson, who is half English, and did all the translating last time. I can speak reasonable French and Spanish , but my German is very limted so we're having fun- sign language is being used....

The gentleman is a musician, and just loves having the baby grand piano at his disposal all the time. We love hearing him play.

They also love our Lakeland tea bread. That's why they've come back- home made tea bread by the log fire, with the piano- he said "it's a dream"!

We're offering special rates until Easter, and our cottage is still available until Easter Saturday too. Please spread the word......email sue@whitemoss.com for your best rates. The daffodils are waiting for you.

Walking round Rydal Water from White Moss House or Brockstone

Yesterday the weather was beautiful- again! We decided jobs could go on hold, and we set off from White Moss, up to Brockstone Holiday Cottage, overlooking Rydal Water, and then on to Rydal, where we had our favourite Carrot and Coriander soup sitting outside in the sun at Rydal Hall tearooms. We then walked around Rydal Water , past Rydal Caves, then along Lughrigg Terrace and down to Grasmere, then back to White Moss House. You can follow this walk by looking at this Guide to walking the Rydal Round. Feel free to download it. Leave me a message if you like!

We are so lucky to have this walk on our doorstep. If you would like a short break before Easter, so that you too can do this walk, we have reduced the week of 23 to 30 March in Brockstone Cottage from £820 to £620. We are also offering breaks of three nights or more from 15 to 30 March at our lovely holiday cottage which you can see here on Holiday Lettings/Trip Advisor. Please email me ( sue@whitemoss.com) with your preferred dates and I'll give you our best offer.

Here are some photos I took yesterday in the gardens of Rydal Hall. I was amazed to see so many different flowers in bloom .
