We're back in the swing again...and we have special offers

We've welcomed our first guests of 2013 to White Moss House. They are a charming couple from Germany. The gentleman has been before, with his grandson, who is half English, and did all the translating last time. I can speak reasonable French and Spanish , but my German is very limted so we're having fun- sign language is being used....

The gentleman is a musician, and just loves having the baby grand piano at his disposal all the time. We love hearing him play.

They also love our Lakeland tea bread. That's why they've come back- home made tea bread by the log fire, with the piano- he said "it's a dream"!

We're offering special rates until Easter, and our cottage is still available until Easter Saturday too. Please spread the word......email sue@whitemoss.com for your best rates. The daffodils are waiting for you.

Wonderful baking aromas coming from the kitchen.

I've just taken my Lakeland Teabread and my Fruit Flapjack out of the oven, and the kitchen smells wonderful.

White Moss Lakeland Tea bread- welcome to our guests on arrival

I've make a double batch, as I'm making the cakes for Grasmere WI meeting tomorrow, and also for our bed and breakfast guests, who will be arriving from Friday onwards as we open up for a new season. We like to give our guests a welcoming pot of tea with home made cakes in front of the log fire in the Wordsworth Lounge- with our compliments. It's a great start to a lovely Lake District break.

We are offering special rates for the next two weeks, which you can see by clicking this link to our special offers page.

We also have our cottage with amazing views available for self catering from 15 to 29 March  ( leaving Saturday 30th) at very special reduced rates, whether for a week or a short break. Click here to see the cottage and find out more about the special offers

Back to the topic of Grasmere WI. We meet on the second Thursday of the month, and visitors to the Lakes who are WI members are very welcome to come to our meetings. I write and maintain the Grasmere WI website, which you can find by clicking here to take you to Grasmere WI website. Tomorrow we are having a chocolate making demo at the new chocolate shop in Grasmere, Cocoa Hearts. Should be good! I might be bringing some cakes back home if we get to taste some of the products, as we might feel that our waistlines can't take too much more.......

Can you take advantage of this great offer on our Grasmere Holiday Cottage?

We've got a gap in our bookings for our lovely holiday cottage, perched high on the "Coffin route" between Grasmere and Rydal. If you've done the walk, you know where it is. If not, there's a link to Google maps ( not totally accurante as the postcode is a bit general) via the link below.

For more pictures and information please click through this link to find your perfect Lake District holiday cottage. You can also follow links there to the Homeaway holiday rentals site and the Holiday Lettings/Trip advisor site.

The nitty gritty- between 15 March and 30 March ( leaving Saturday morning), you can stay 3 nights midweek for £230, or 3 nights over a weekend for £290. It's a bargain! A week from Saturday to Saturday is only £550.

Please ring me ( 015294 35295) or email sue@whitemoss.com.

If you have a moment to visit our Facebook page and give it a like, that would be great too. Here's the link if you feel able to Facebook like our Brockstone Cottage page. I struggle with Facebook- any help would be appreciated!

This is a chance for a very good value break before Easter. I hope to hear from you !

Walking round Rydal Water from White Moss House or Brockstone

Yesterday the weather was beautiful- again! We decided jobs could go on hold, and we set off from White Moss, up to Brockstone Holiday Cottage, overlooking Rydal Water, and then on to Rydal, where we had our favourite Carrot and Coriander soup sitting outside in the sun at Rydal Hall tearooms. We then walked around Rydal Water , past Rydal Caves, then along Lughrigg Terrace and down to Grasmere, then back to White Moss House. You can follow this walk by looking at this Guide to walking the Rydal Round. Feel free to download it. Leave me a message if you like!

We are so lucky to have this walk on our doorstep. If you would like a short break before Easter, so that you too can do this walk, we have reduced the week of 23 to 30 March in Brockstone Cottage from £820 to £620. We are also offering breaks of three nights or more from 15 to 30 March at our lovely holiday cottage which you can see here on Holiday Lettings/Trip Advisor. Please email me ( sue@whitemoss.com) with your preferred dates and I'll give you our best offer.

Here are some photos I took yesterday in the gardens of Rydal Hall. I was amazed to see so many different flowers in bloom .

Save over £100 on your Lake District break.

We're getting ready to open for 2013, which we reckon will be our 33rd year at White Moss House. Will we ever be able to tear ourselves away? We love it here!

The decorator has been painting, the carpet cleaner has been swooshing around, and we are polishing and dusting every nook and cranny ready for our first guests of the year.

White Moss House, Grasmere snowdrops
The weather has been beautiful in the Lake District for the last few weeks, and the snowdrops are out in force. The daffodils are ready to burst into bloom, and in a couple of weeks they will be fantastic.

We're offering excellent offers for B & B from 15 to 28 March, with savings over £100 for 3 night stays. These offers apply all week- no weekend supplement. We also offer 2 night specials. The AA has just awarded us their Special Award for Outstanding Breakfasts.  This reflects the top quality produce, locally sourced when possible, and the skill in preparation and presentation. Our 2013 homemade Seville orange marmalade is delicious, our locally smoked kippers and cured bacon are simply the best.Come and treat yourselves before the Easter rush.

Please note that bookings at our special rate must be made direct by email ( sue@whitemoss.com) or phone (015394 35295). They are not available for bookings through any online booking sytem.

The days are getting longer.

It's noticable now that the days are getting longer. Today it was light before 8pm, and it doesn't get dark until well after 5pm.

We've had a very heavy snowfall in the last week, but all the snow has gone, and the daffodils are well on their way. They must be very confused with the huge variations we've been having between very mild weather and very cold weather. Here's a photo I took through the window of Room 3 on Saturday morning.

Rydal Water from White Moss House

Here's another one of the terrace, where you'll be be able to enjoy your complimetary afternoon cup of tea with homemade Lakeland tea bread when you check in at White Moss House !

For early bookings of three nights midweek, or four nights over a weekend ( including Easter and other Bank Holidays) we are offering 10% discount on our 2012 rates. For more details check our  White Moss House website.

Happy New Year from White Moss House

1 January 2013, and it's dry with a hint of sun over Rydal Water. After all the rain we've had lately this is great news. I'm looking forward to a walking round the lake this afternoon.

People tell me that New Year's Day is a time for booking holidays. We're hoping that you might like to visit us in our historic Lake District house in 2013, so we've put some special New Year Offers on our website for you. Check out our special New Year Grasmere Bed and Breakfast offers here.

If you would like to stay at our Grasmere holiday cottage with amazing views take a look here. We already have quite a few weeks booked in 2013, so please book early to get the weeks you want.

Here's a photo of White Moss Terrace on a good day in summer. Have faith- we will have days like this in 2013.
