This year in the Lake District we had no rain to speak of from January to June. People not on mains water ran dry around April and on July 9 a hose pipe ban came into force.
That was the day it started to rain, and it didn't seem to stop until September. However, the last two weeks have been dry, sunny and warm, and even though colder weather is on its way, the storms seem to be keeping away.
I've just put a special offer on our website, so if you click on this link you'll see how you can save at least £60 on your visit to White Moss House. Stay in November and we'll throw in a bottle of wine for your to enjoy by the log fire in the Wordsworth Lounge.
Here's an autumn picture to whet your appetite.
